The river defines the city of Cork and the city centre is an island surrounded by water. A floating pavilion designed for staging various events recalling the floating theatres of eighteenth century Venice. The roof form, a tensegrity structure, is inspired by concepts of movement. The structure supports a gossamer fabric over the performance space on hot summer days, or can be removed for open-air performances and exhibitions. Cork is always visible, rendering different views of the city, creating a perfect sense of depth behind the proscenium space.
